It's a sunny fall day when we stop by our supplier of Conifers and other Christmas greens. It's a perfect time to stop by supplier Andromeda because the season has just begun, which means the trees are still full of greenery.
Different types of conifers grow side by side in large fields. Owners Wim and Peter give us a detailed tour of the fields.

1. Can you tell us more about the company?
We have specialized in beautiful Christmas greens for florists. These can grow well here on the sands of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the WBE branches are comparatively not far away. The nursery feels like a park with shorter and longer rows of conifers in all colors and varieties. There are many new plantings, but also trees over 50 years old. It is also a nice place to live and work, not only for people, but also for a lot of animal species.
2. What does the company stand for?
We want to provide the beautiful and special greenery especially for Christmas. The assortment includes many exclusive products. The quality has to be the best in the market, with purity, length, uniformity and color. The environmental quality is also the highest in the export market with MPS-A+
3. How long has Andromeda been supplying the WBE Group?
As early as the 60's, our predecessors delivered to a predecessor of WBE. We joined the WBE group about 20 years ago. For many years, we have been allowed to supply all branches and feel part of the WBE family. Therefore, we also do not deliver to competitors of WBE.
4. What products does Andromeda supply to the WBE Group?
Most important are the Christmas green species: a package of about 25 species from early October through December. We also supply Leucothoe and Corylus (curly hazel).
5. What do you think are the benefits of the WBE Group?
The WBE Group is a group with very fine and reliable employees, with whom we have had the pleasure of working for many years. The continuity and mutual respect within the WBE Group makes the group thrive and they take us in their wake.
6. What is your role within the company?
Within Andromeda, we are the 2 business owners/growers. So ultimately responsible for everything from strategy to dishwasher and we don't feel too small for anything.
7. What does your day look like?
We don't get up as early as the WBEs, especially in the fall and winter, because we can't cut anything at the nursery in the dark anyway. During busy times, most orders come in in the morning. We make the schedule so the employees can enjoy working then. And we ourselves do those jobs that remain then, which is partly cutting ourselves, but mostly preparing the orders and all the other chores and chores.
8. Do you have any tips/tricks for your product?
Most important tip is: start in time for Christmas. Good planning is the basis of successful Christmas sales. Greens keep for quite a long time in the refrigerator or outside in the shade. With good planning, you can do good business at Christmas, as Christmas continues to become a more important theme over the years.
