Behind the scenes

Last November, the WBE group traveled to Central America. In Central America the delegates of the WBE group visited several growers. During the trip, besides being extremely interesting to see how production is done, contact with the grower was important for the WBE group.

CARAMBA FARMS

One of the growers the group visited is Caramba Farms. Caramba Farms is a company in Costa Rica. They are the largest producer and exporter of Phoenix Roebellinii in Costa Rica. Caramba Farms has been supplying Phoenix Roebellinii, Cordyline Terminalis and Cyca Revoluta to the WBE group for over 20 years.

The Phoenix Roebellinii is a species of palm grown in extensive fields in the Guapiles, Limon area of Costa Rica. The shape and strength of these palm branches make them great for use in various bouquets and arrangements.

Cordyline, better known by the names Green Tie and Black Tie, also grows as a shrub in the same area, and its foliage is very popular with florists and arrangers because of its shape and intense colors.

Cyca Revoluta is a slow-growing plant that produces pointed, bright green leaves.

MPS A+ CERTIFICATE

Caramba Farms, led by owner Manuel Lachner and production manager Yasmira Petit, pays close attention to the processing process after the various leaf varieties are picked. Multiple checks on quality, watering, grading, packaging (including VacPac), refrigeration, storage and transportation are very well organized within this company that has carried the MPS A+ certificate for many years. Caramba Farms works according to international laws and regulations and does its part as a socially responsible entrepreneur, where the position of the employees and their families is central in areas such as education, housing and health care.
