"We consider WBE a family member." A great quote from the interview with Ricardo, CEO of supplier Sicusa.

For more than 11 years, the WBE group has cooperated with Sicusa. We import products such as Leather Fern and Aralia from here. Therefore, we are extra excited to share more information about this partnership.

This month our Guatemalan supplier Sicusa is in the spotlight. Ricardo gave us more information about all the activities involved in working on the plantation in Guatemala.

Read the entire interview here.

1. Can you tell us more about the company?

The company was founded in 2009 and is integrated into 3 plantations: Sicusa, Adecor and Ornamentales La Loma. One is located in the north of Guatemala and the other two in the central area, therefore we have different weather conditions to produce our products.

Working with nature, we are affected by elements that we cannot control, which is why we try to keep innovating, learning and looking for ways to be more efficient, meeting the challenges, not only of the industry, but of the world, to produce quality according to the demands of the market.

2. What does your company stand for?

We are an agricultural company that believes workers are the most important part of the operation, treating them fairly and providing good working conditions is the basis of everything we do to bring good quality products to market.

3. How long have you been supplying the WBE group?

Our relationship with the WBE group has existed for 30 years; as a direct supplier for 11 years (and counting)

4. What products do you supply to the WBE group?

Currently Leather Fern and Aralia

5. What do you think are the benefits of the WBE group?

In all these years of our cooperation, we have learned that WBE Group is a reliable company that works with honesty and support for their suppliers, understanding that we are all links of the same chain. We regard WBE as a family member.

6. What is your role within the company?

CEO / owner

7. What does your day look like?

Every day is different. One of the things I do is, oversee the operation and coordinate with the management team responsible for production, warehouse, quality control, etc.

Together with them, we also plan to meet market needs as much as possible.

Another important task is research, this helps to learn, find ways to get better and be more efficient. Manage costs, look for opportunities/investments that can help consolidate the company and strengthen our business relationship with the WBE group.

8. Do you have any tips/tricks for your product?

Keep them well hydrated with fresh water and avoid direct sunlight. Cutting off the end of the stem before placing it in the vase improves shelf life.
